Jonathan Smith has signed for Chesterfield on an 18-month contract following a successful loan spell.
The midfielder joined the Spireites on loan in mid-September and has played eight games for Martin Allen's side.
Smith was moved to right-back after a couple of games and has impressed fans and management team alike.
The 32-year-old has scored three goals in his last three games and turned down a move to a league club in order to join the Spireites.
Allen said: "He's played a significant role in our team, scoring three goals in the last three games and performed well."
Smith will likely be in the starting eleven for Saturday's FA Cup fixture against Billericay Town and he will be looking to improve his impressive goal-scoring streak as of late.
