Mike Fondop was on target with his fourth goal of the season as the Spireites drew 1-1 at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.
John Sheridan made three changes to the side that faced Stockport which saw Luke Coddington making his competitive debut for the Spireites. Haydn Hollis and Robbie Weir also came into the starting eleven.
The home side started on the front foot, creating a few chances, but they were unable to convert any into a goal.
Joe Rowley’s deflected free kick forced Elliot Justham to tip the effort over the bar and out for a corner.
But as the first half progressed, Peter Taylor’s side started to have more of the ball and offered more going forward.
Joan Luque opened the scoring and put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute when he easily found his way through the Chesterfield defence to get one-on-one with Coddington and fire the ball into the back of the net.
Chesterfield had an attempt to level on the 40th minute when Mike Fondop’s volley from the edge of the box flew wide of the mark.
Just before the half-time mark the Daggers should have doubled their lead. Alexander McQueen’s cross found the feet of Scott Quigley, but Coddington was there to deny the Daggers man with his leg.
Dagenham had a chance to double their the lead inside the first minute of the second half. Luque beat Josef Yarney on the right to put in a low ball toward goal, but Will Evans was there to clear from danger.
The equaliser for the Spireites came in the 69th minute. Fondop got his head onto the end of Laurence Maguire’s cross. Justham tried to claw it away, but Fondop had already powered the ball into the back of the net to level the scores.
In injury time substitute Liam Mandeville floated a ball to Maguire at the back post, but he headed over and the whistle was blown, with the points being shared at the Proact Stadium.
The draw means that Chesterfield are eight games without a win, going back to last season. Second placed Halifax Town make their way to the Proact on Tuesday as they can move to the top of the table if results go their way.
