Jonathan Smith's stoppage time equaliser gave Chesterfield a well deserved draw against high-flying Wrexham at the Proact Stadium.
Martin Allen decided to make two changes from the team that beat AFC Fylde in the FA Cup last week. Smith and Zavon Hines replaced Alex Kiwomya and Lee Shaw.
Early chances came the way of the home side. Sam Muggleton's first long throw of the afternoon fell to Tom Denton, but the striker's effort was saved easily by Rob Lainton in the Wrexham goal.
The Spireites were able to create another good chance seven minutes later, when Zavon Hines collected a knock-down from Denton before curling a shot over the crossbar.
The away side were very quiet in the opening stages of the game, but were handed a golden chance to take the lead after 20 minutes when the referee gave a penalty to the Welsh team after Will Evans was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area.
Brad Walker took the penalty and sent Callum Burton the wrong way to give the visitors the lead.
This seemed to give the Dragons some confidence and they almost doubled their lead just a couple of minutes later as Paul Rutherford's cross found Mike Fondop, but the talisman fired over from close range.
Next up to try his luck was Akil Wright. The midfielder unleashed a rocket of a shot from all of 25 yards, however Burton managed to tip the effort out for a corner.
Chesterfield managed to catch a break from the Wrexham onslaught just before the half-hour mark when Evans' free kick flew past the post.
With just six minutes to go of the first half, the Blues created yet another good chance. Hines danced through the Dragons' defence before cutting the ball back to Joe Rowley, but the young midfielder blazed his shot over the bar.
Three minutes into the second half, Sam Ricketts' side almost doubled their lead. Fondop laid the ball off for Wright, but his volley went just over the top of the bar.
The hosts started to pressure their high-flying opposition as the half went on and they really should have been level on 65 minutes, as Jerome Binnom-Williams was the first to react to a corner but his goal-bound effort ricocheted off Lee Shaw.
Substitute Levi Amantchi added an extra spark to the Spireites attack and almost pulled the home side level, but Lainton pulled off a fantastic save to deny the 17-year-old striker his first ever professional goal.
However, with time running out, Chesterfield pulled a rabbit out of the hat, as Laurence Maguire's pinpoint cross found the unmarked Smith, who headed home to give the Spireites a well-earned point.
The result means that the Blues stay in 19th position in the National League and stay three points over the team occupying the last relegation spot, Dagenham & Redbridge.
It also means that the Spireites are now five games unbeaten in all competitions (One win and four draws) or 14 games in the league without a win - I'll let you decide how you want to put it.
Post-Match Verdict: The better side
Even though Wrexham were much the better team in the first half, Chesterfield were the better team overall. They even played the better football.
Things do finally seem to be settling down and starting to fall into place, but a win is needed to solidify that.
I've got to say that Levi Amantchi seems to be adapting to the first team quite well. He added a different dimension to the Spireites attack and was very unlucky not to score.
This stretch of games was always going to make it hard to find that league win, but going into Tuesday, I must say that I'm pretty confident that Chesterfield can bring the three points back from Sutton.
