PREVIEW: Spireites face Fylde under the lights at Mill Farm


Chesterfield travel to AFC Fylde in hope of securing their first victory away from home this season.


They will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Eastleigh when two easily-preventable goals were conceded after taking the lead early on.

 

The Opposition


The Coasters were tipped to do well in pre-season but have had a difficult start to this campaign. Chesterfield and Fylde have both lost seven of their fifteen games this season, however they have managed four victories compared to Chesterfield’s two.


They are currently 19th in the National League. Last season Dave Challinor’s side reached the play-off final but lost out on a place in the Football League to Salford City.

 

One-To-Watch


Jordan Williams- The 26-year-old had spells in non-league at Burscough, Northwitch Victoria and Barrow, before he earnt as move to the football league putting pen to paper at Rochdale in 2017.


The winger enjoyed a loan spell at Lincoln City where he made eleven appearances before signing for Fylde on a two-year contract. He has found the back of the net five times so far for the Coasters.

 

Previous Meetings


The Spireites are unbeaten against Fylde with two victories and one draw. Last season, the Spireites came out on top to secure their place in the first round of the FA Cup, in the league fixture at Mill Farm Marc-Antoine Fortune’s early strike secured all three points.

 

Team News


Mark Crossley revealed that Anthony Gerrard is in contention. However, David Buchanan and Laurence Maguire are still out.

 

Crossley’s Thoughts


He was very complimentary about Fylde saying: “They were excellent last season but they find themselves in a similar situation to us this season. The only way to put it right is to keep working.”
