Chesterfield travel to Kent to face Ebbsfleet where they seek their fourth consecutive league victory.
The Fleet are looking for a third successive win in all competitions, a run that has led them to the FA Cup First Round and off the foot of the table.
The Opposition
Similarly to the Spireites, Ebbsfleet have had a difficult start to the season but have seen their current form pick up in recent weeks. On Tuesday Fleet gave fellow strugglers Chorley a thrashing as they condemned them to a 4-0 defeat.
Experienced manager Gary Hill was shown the door at Stonebridge Road in October leaving Kevin Watson temporarily in charge, while The Fleet sit inside the drop zone in 23rd position.
One-To-Watch
Former Spireite Gozie Ugwu is Ebbsfleet’s top scorer this season with five goals to his name and three in his last two games.
Chesterfield signed the striker from Woking in 2017, where he endured loan spells out at Boreham Wood and Ebbsfleet before joining the Fleet on a permanent basis this summer.
Previous Meetings
The two sides have only met twice but both fixtures were memorable for different reasons. The first meeting was Chesterfield’s first game in the National League, when Zavon Hines’ penalty proved the difference at Stonebridge Road.
In the second game, the Spireites came from 3-0 down to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw. Will Evans scored the equaliser before saving a penalty following Callum Burton's dismissal.
Team News
John Sheridan told the press that Laurence Maguire and David Buchanan are back in training.
Sheridan’s Thoughts
When asked about his opponents the gaffer said: “They’ve had a good couple of results recently. They’re a good footballing side and again have good experience in their team.
“But I’m only worried about us, I’m hoping we go there with the belief that we can win the game. If we turn up and do what we’ve done recently we will have a good chance.”
