NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH REPORT: LATE DRAMA WITH HARRIERS AND BUCKS SHARING POINTS

Late drama at both ends saw Buxton and Kidderminster share the spoils at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.

In the 17th minute, Buxton had a penalty appeal waved away after Oliver Ewing’s freekick was cleared and appeared to strike a Harriers hand, but the referee showed no interest.

Moments later, an off the ball incident saw both Tommy Elliott and David Davis booked for their involvement, while Cian Coleman was cautioned for dissent.

Ashley Hemmings looked to break the deadlock late in the first half, sending a long range freekick into Paul Cooper’s hands before dragging another effort wide in injury time.

After the break, it took a while for either side to find rhythm, with Luke Brennan registering the first effort of the second half by dragging a shot wide on 61 minutes.

Tempers flared on the touchline as Kidderminster manager Phil Brown was shown a yellow card for his protests over the referee’s decision not to book Connor Kirby.

Substitute Johnny Johnston was next to go close for the Bucks, breaking forward on the counter attack, but saw his low drive saved at the near post by Christian Dibble.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 82nd minute. Ethan Mann laid the ball off to Coleman, and the on loan midfielder rifled a strike into the top right corner to make it 1-0.

However, in added time, the visitors responded. A reworked corner was met by the head of Zak Brown, who nodded home the equaliser.

Kidderminster almost snatched all three points in the dying moments, with David Worrall picking out Ben Beresford in the area, but Cooper produced a superb diving save to claim the ball and ensure Buxton held on for a point.
