NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PREVIEW: BUXTON TRAVEL TO LINCOLNSHIRE TO FACE LEADERS SCUNTHORPE

The Bucks


The Bucks go into this game after beating  Scarborough 2-0 on Tuesday night.


Connor Kirby scored twice as he continued his fine form in front of goal against Scarborough who had former Buck Alex Brown sent off after 18 minutes.


Following the win manager John McGrath said:


“We started really well as part of this good run. We were excellent and eventually deserved the points.”


" It was a bright start that got the crowd behind us. Scarborough kept going but Connor's goal made sure. It was a great, late run into the box, settling our nerves after pressure from Boro. Connor is a top leader and can take games by the scruff of the neck. He has all-round energy and infectious energy


"We've always stuck to what we know, what we're good at. That's what is starting to bring us success. Finally, thank you to that noisy crowd. They do us proud."



Opposition


The club finished 2nd in the National League North last season losing in the playoffs to Boston.


They play their games at Glanford Park which has a capacity of 9088.


The club have the nickname The Iron.


They currently sit top of the league on 29 points from 16 games.


In their last game they lost 3-2 to Spennymoor with Ross Barrows and Callum Roberts getting the goals for The Iron.



Their manager is Andy Butler who was promoted from being a coach this summer and won the manager of the month for the league in August.


One to watch

Callum Roberts is the clubs joint top goalscorer this season with 7 goals.


He joined the club from Aberdeen and won the October 2024 player of the month for The National League North.


Last Time Out

A 0-0 draw was played out in December 2023 at the TSS.


Last time they faced at Scunthorpe was three weeks after the original game was abandoned and Buxton won 3-0 with a goal from Diego De Girolamo either side of Sam Minihan’s goal.
