NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PREVIEW: BUXTON FINALLY START 2025 WITH CHESTER CLASH

UP NEXT:

After 3 postponed games Buxton finally play their first game of 2025 as they welcome Chester to the TSS.

The Bucks

The Bucks  last game was against Alfreton where they won 3-2 on Boxing Day with all five goals coming in the first half.

Kieran Burton, Tommy Elliott and Ben Sault were the goalscorers for The Bucks.

Following the win manager John McGrath said:

"I was delighted with how the lads fought back from going a goal down and they continued to follow the game plan as we deservedly took the points.

These were probably my favourite three points of the season.

We created numerous chances throughout the game, including during the goalless second half.

Overall, it was a professional performance and now we must prepare for Chorley. They will provide a different kind of challenge, but we'll be ready."

Cian Coleman has returned to Leeds following his loan spell with the club.

Opposition

Chester this week have signed Buxton born goalkeeper Jimmy Storer on loan from Wolves.

The club finished 10th in the National League North last season.

They play their games at the Deva Stadium which has a capacity of 5400

The club are nicknamed The Seals.

They were formed in 2010 after the liquidation of Chester City.

Chester sit 10th in the league after 23 games and have 37 points.

Callum McIntyre is the manager and he took charge in May 2022.

Their last game was on New Year’s Day where they drew 0-0 with Southport.

One to watch

Defender Harrison Burke has now made the eighth most appearances for The Seals with 129 games played.

He won the National League North player of the month report for November 2024.
