It's been a busy day at the Proact as Laurence Maguire has penned a new deal and Scott Boden has re-joined Chesterfield.
Maguire has signed a new contract that will keep him with the Spireites for another two-and-a-half years.
The 21-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club back in 2014 and has made 59 senior appearances.
This season, the defender has played 21 times and scored once against Billericay Town in the FA Cup. However, he is currently on the road back from a knee injury.
The defender is delighted at signing a new contract and wants to help the Spireites back up to the EFL.
He said: "I'm delighted to get the deal over the line as I've been here a long time now and I was keen to stay.
"The club has a big place in my heart and I want to help Chesterfield get back to the EFL."
Meanwhile, John Sheridan has made his first signing back as Chesterfield boss with Boden joining from National League side Gateshead for an undisclosed fee.
The striker returns to the Proact Stadium on an 18-month contract with the option of an extra year.
In the summer of 2008, he joined the Spireites, where he gained his first professional contract.
During the five-and-a-half-years he spent with the club, Boden played 118 times and scored 17 times.
He also won League Two and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with Sheridan as manager before leaving for Macclesfield Town in the summer of 2013.
The 29-year-old has also played for Halifax Town, Newport County, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Wrexham.
Boden the joined Gateshead for the 2018/19 season, where he scored twice in the 3-0 victory against Chesterfield at the Proact back in September.
He has 11 goals in 29 games this season, including three goals in his last three games. These include strikes against Solihull Moors, Salford City and Boreham Wood.
The forward is ecstatic following his return to the Proact and is wanting to get back down to business and continue scoring goals.
He said: "I’m buzzing to have got the deal sorted and I just can’t wait to get going now. I got my first pro deal here and it’s effectively my team."
Boden's involvment in the FA Trophy earlier this season means that he can't play against Brackley Town this Saturday, due to being cup-tied.
However, he will be in line to make his debut against one of his former teams, Halifax Town, on Saturday, February 9.
