BUXTON’S UNBEATEN RUN ENDS AT THE HANDS OF BRACKLEY

Buxton’s unbeaten run came to an end after two second half goals from Brackley Town and the Silverlands Stadium.

The Bucks looked to control the early tempo, dominating possession in the opening minutes without creating any clear-cut chances.

Diego De Girolamo was the first to threaten, using his pace to burst past the Brackley defence before unleashing a shot that forced visiting goalkeeper Jonny Maxted into an early save in the 13th minute.

Buxton continued to probe, with Ethan Mann delivering a perfectly weighted pass down the line to De Girolamo. The forward attempted to square the ball across to Josh Williams on the edge of the box, but the Brackley defenders recovered quickly to snuff out the danger.

George Carline’s long throws posed a threat, almost creating openings for Brackley as they began to test the Bucks’ backline.

The next chance of the half came in the 35th minute when Josh Popoola found space outside the box and unleashed a powerful shot that whistled just wide of Maxted’s post.

Moments later, the Saints nearly broke the deadlock with Carline rising highest to meet a cross in the box, but his header was comfortably saved by the Bucks’ keeper.

The last chance of the half fell to Morgan Roberts with his freekick on the edge of the box sailing over the bar.

In the 59th minute, Brackley’s Lowe met a cross for the first chance of the half, but his header lacked power and was easily collected by Grant.

JackStobbs then delivered a well-placed ball into the box in the 65th minute, only for a Brackley defender to head it over, preventing a promising opportunity.

In the 71st minute, a long throw caused chaos in the box, and the ball was flicked on to Connor Hall, who nodded it past Grant to put the visitors 1-0 up.

Just four minutes later, Brackley doubled their lead. Another lapse in the Buxton defense allowed Matt Lowe to find space, and he made no mistake, heading home from close range to make it 2-0.

Stobbs yet again had a freekick challenge Brackley with Maxted forced to punch the cross into the box away.

And despite a late chance from defender Finn Delap The Bucks were unable to break through the strong defence of Brackley.

Buxton now have a break from league action with a trip to Darlington in the FA Trophy this coming weekend.
