Buxton claim convincing victory away at Rushall


Buxton delivered a commanding performance securing a resounding 3-0 victory away at Dales Lane against Rushall Olympic.


The match was filled with drama from the opening minutes, as Owen Farmer was brought down in the box by Connor Kirby, resulting in a penalty for Rushall Olympic in the 5th minute. However, The Bucks goalkeeper, Joe Young, produced a heroic save, deflecting the ball onto the post. And In a swift turn of events, Buxton FC capitalized on the rebound within 19 seconds, with Diego de Girolamo finding the back of the net with a header after Jak McCourt’s cross to give his team an early lead.


The home side responded well with Rushall Olympic's Cameron McWilliams delivering a dangerous ball from a corner, only for Mitchell Clarke's header to narrowly miss the target in the 12th minute.


As the first half progressed, Rushall Olympic came agonizingly close to equalizing, with a goalmouth scramble resulting in a shot from Owen Oseni tipped onto the bar before the referee blew for a foul, denying Rushall Olympic the chance to capitalize on the rebound.


Despite Rushall's attacking efforts, Buxton FC remained resolute in defense, with Livingstone's cross in the 40th minute met by Elliott, only for Rushall's keeper to make a quick save.


The second half saw Rushall Olympic pushing forward in search of a breakthrough, but Buxton FC's defense held firm, with goalkeeper Young denying Farmer in a one-on-one situation in the 61st minute.


Buxton FC extended their lead in the 65th minute through a brilliant set-piece routine, with McCourt's freekick hitting the bar before Mottley-Henry headed it in to make it 2-0.


The game was put beyond doubt in the 70th minute when De Girolamo orchestrated a superb passing move, only to be brought down in the box. De Girolamo stepped up to convert the penalty, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory for Buxton FC.
